Bring your existing schedule into Mortar in minutes
Switching tools shouldn't mean starting from a blank project. Upload a CSV of your product schedule, map the columns once, and Mortar creates every item — sorted into the right rooms — in a single import.
The spreadsheet is the reason you haven't switched
Every designer who has looked at a project tool and closed the tab has the same reason: the live project is in a spreadsheet, and re-typing 140 line items into anything is a weekend you don't have. So the spreadsheet stays, the tool stays unopened, and the next project starts the same way.
That objection is the one this feature exists to remove.
Upload, check the columns, import
Open Data Import from the sidebar — from the main menu or from inside a project — and upload your .csv. Mortar shows the first rows and guesses which column is which from common header names: name, price, quantity, currency, product URL, vendor, category, room. Adjust anything it got wrong, pick the project the items belong to, and import.
The whole thing is one screen. No template to download, no columns to rename before you start.
Rooms sort themselves
If your sheet has a Room column, Mortar uses it: items land in the matching room, and rooms that don't exist yet are created on the way in. If it doesn't, pick a room and everything goes there. Either way you open the project and find the schedule where you'd expect it — budget tracking already adding it up, procurement ready to take each item from sourced to installed.
Nothing goes missing quietly
When the import finishes, Mortar tells you how many items it created and lists every row it skipped, with a plain reason for each: a missing name, a price it couldn't read, a currency it doesn't support. You fix those five rows, not re-check the other hundred.
What it does and doesn't do
Honest limits, so you can plan the migration:
- CSV only. Export from Excel or Google Sheets as .csv first; .xlsx isn't read directly.
- Creates items, doesn't update them. The import adds new items; it won't match or de-duplicate against items already in the project. Import a schedule once, then work in Mortar.
- Up to 500 rows per import. Larger schedules split into a couple of files.
- No photos. Product images aren't part of the CSV; add them afterwards — or paste the product URL and let Mortar pull the photo from the retailer page.
- Five currencies. USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, and NZD. A row in any other currency is skipped with a reason; the rest of the file still imports.
