Frequently asked questions

Where do these rates come from?
From each vendor's own pricing pages and help documentation, collected in July 2026 and cited in our interior design software cost guide. Where a vendor doesn't publish rates, we say so rather than guessing.
Why do some platforms show 'rates not published'?
Because they don't print them anywhere a buyer can read: Houzz Pro's rates live inside image files, and Programa's pricing page uses 'no surprise fees' language without stating the fees. If the rates aren't public, ask for them in writing before you sign.
What does Mortar charge?
Cards are 3.3% + 30¢ (Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ plus Mortar's 0.4%). Bank transfers are 0.4% with a $1 minimum, capped at $15 — so a $10,000 invoice costs $15 in fees, and so does a $40,000 one. The full schedule, including our share, is on the pricing page.
Why does the bank-transfer cap matter so much?
Interior design money moves in large invoices. On $40,000, an uncapped 1% gateway costs $400; Studio Designer's capped ACH costs $25; Mortar's costs $15. At procurement scale the cap matters more than the headline percentage.
